2017 Total Solar Eclipse

We’ve heard from people across the country who plan to come to Cross Plains for the total solar eclipse on August 21, 2017. Cross Plains is among the areas experiencing the longest totality during the eclipse.

Kilgore Park (150 Kilgore Trace) will be open. “Space Walk: Path of Totality” will be hosting an event in the park pavilion (admission required) but the rest of the park is free and offers a great viewing opportunity. Parking is limited so come early. You can take the short walk downtown and visit some of our local merchants.

My family is planning to view the eclipse from Cross Plains as well. I, too, want to know if there will be restroom facilities? Will the High School be operating that day or will there be parking there?

There is a public restroom in Kilgore Park. School is out that day but they are still finalizing a decision on the use of their parking lot.

According to the Robertson County School website, all schools will closed on eclipse day.

The original poster said that parking is free but limited so come early.

The view of Kilgore Park from Google Maps shows a concession building in the middle of four baseball diamonds. There probably is a bathroom located in that building, but who knows if it will be open.

I have read somewhere that the park will open at 11am. Is this correct? That is much later than we were planning on arriving and setting up.
